We used to have social safeguards and mores that largely prevented situations where abortion was a norm and where a child was born out of wedlock, that is, without a sound, stable social unit of support. Those safeguards and mores are all but eroded. We have become degenerates. Thanks third-wave feminism ideology for that coupled with having a nanny state, and an overall a shift from a child-centered society to a self-centered society. The moral authority of religion has waned and was replaced with the amoral meme of "do whatever you want, whenever you want. And consequences be damned." If by accident there is a baby on his or her way, guys get to walk away while the girls cut up the unborn, and start again. You have the right to, so you are told.
Do I advocate going back to the 50s? I love Burning Man Festival too much for that—not to mention the wonderful expression of life and sexual energy of the 21st century woman.
But when it is all said and done, we need to restore the sanctity of raising and having children in wedlock, having taboos about unprotected intercourse (or having intercourse proper only in wedlock), and bringing back the tradition of a shotgun marriage. These norms should be enforced both in the realm of law and by new, areligious social mores.
This is a call to tether freedom of expression and sense of liberation to the enormous, incredible consequences of having sex. Nature never programmed the sex drive in so it will be fun and games for their own sake. You got to read the fine print.
